Five Ways – July 26

July 23, 2026

  1. A Christian girl’s view of creation: After God created Adam, He said, “I can do better,” and God created woman.
  2. The World Council of Churches (WCC), the Global Christian Forum, and the Vatican: below you will find an update on the Global Christian Forum. It is important to remember that the WCC has always been concerned about the reality of Evangelization, Mission and Proclamation. The separation of Christians into so many denominations makes it difficult to promote Jesus, His message, and His Church. Founded right after World War II, the WCC has always had Eastern Orthodox membership, but the Vatican has consistently done two things regarding WCC, and both are important. We have declined membership but always had Catholic officials on the various committees of the WCC.

Many evangelical and Pentecostal Churches stayed out of WCC, but in 1998, some of these Churches formed the Global Christian Forum. I am indebted to the Focolare Movement, founded by Chiara Lubich in the bomb shelters of northern Italy during World War II, for some of the information on the Global Christian Forum. Focolare, with its Catholic leadership, has strong relationships with all religions.

Many thanks to those who commented on the June 30 Five Ways. May the rest of July, and the beginning of August, bring Christ’s peace to our troubled world. And during our summer vacations, may we relate well to other religions.

In His love,

Fr. Harry Winter, O.M.I.
