Five Ways – Jul 21

July 9, 2021

Please note that I am moving on July 16 from our retirement residence in Tewksbury, MA, to being Senior Priest, St. Mary’s Church, 94 Andover Street, Georgetown, MA 01833. My e-mail remains the same but the land line will be (978) 352-2024. I welcome your prayers; moving at age 83 is not as easy as it used to
be. I will be assisting an Oblate I taught in the seminary many years ago, Michael O’Hara, O.M.I.

The 75th wedding anniversary of former president Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn on July 7th reminded me of the comment by another woman, Ruth Graham, wife of the famous evangelical evangelist Billy Graham. When asked if during their long marriage she ever thought of divorce, she quickly replied: “Divorce, no, murder a few times!” May the Holy Spirit continue to help us all be joyful, especially those experiencing family difficulties during summer vacation.

Please remember that on the Sunday closest to July 20, Webster Presbyterian Church, near Houston, TX celebrates the Lord’s Supper to commemorate the first food and drink on the moon: the consecrated bread and wine taken by member Buzz Aldrin to the moon on July 20, 1969. A complete description of the 50th anniversary of this, in 2019, is available on the website Mission-Unity-Dialogue, Eucharistic Hospitality page, www.harrywinter..org. So this Sunday, July 18, is the Sunday in 2021 when an increasing number of Christian Churches remember this historic event. Many thanks to all the Five Ways members who responded to the June 28 Five Ways eletter.

Be assured of my prayers for each of you.

In Christ’s love,
Fr. Harry Winter, O.M.I.
